Safe & Supported?

Movember SpeakEasy is an early intervention program focused on improving social connection. Sessions are delivered to groups of 30 or more participants, aged 18+.

If "big stuff" comes up, the facilitators are able to support participants with empathy and compassion, while also recommending appropriate follow-up resources to continue the conversation. If you are worried about someone, or are in need of immediate support, visit the Support page.

What is SpeakEasy?Accordion Plus Icon

Movember SpeakEasy sessions are 90-minute virtual or face-to-face workshops. They help you build skills and stronger connections to support the people around you. SpeakEasy workshops encourage us all to be more open to deal with things that come up in our lives, and seek out support when we need it.

Why is SpeakEasy needed?Accordion Plus Icon

No matter who you are, everyone goes through tough times. Movember SpeakEasy workshops are designed to help normalise challenges and increase awareness and acceptance of what an attendee and / or those around them are experiencing. The workshop also helps change attitudes and willingness to reach out for help or support. As well as arming attendees with the tools to have more open conversations and to effectively support their friends, family and community.

Who can participate?Accordion Plus Icon

We encourage anyone who wants to learn how to better support the men in their life to attend, be it sons, brothers, husbands, friends, colleagues and / or fathers.

Workshops are restricted to those aged 18 years and above.

Movember SpeakEasy is one 90-minute workshop.

Will I be expected to talk about mental health problems?Accordion Plus Icon

No. This workshop is not designed to talk about or treat mental ill health. The workshops will help you build skills to support those that you care about, have more open conversations, and to improve and strengthen connection and support.

Are the workshops just for men?Accordion Plus Icon

Movember SpeakEasy workshops are designed with men in mind, though the learnings in the session are valuable for all people. They ignite important conversations about social norms, encouraging more meaningful connection and giving participants the tools and confidence to have more open conversations.

The dates and locations for these events are released on the 31st of October via the SpeakEasy website.

Is there anything I need to do before the workshop?Accordion Plus Icon

Nope. There's nothing for you to do before attending the workshop. We just encourage you to come with an open mind, and be ready and willing to listen and participate.

Who funds the Movember SpeakEasy program?Accordion Plus Icon

The Movember SpeakEasy program is completely funded through the donations and support of the Movember community.

How many people can attend a workshop?Accordion Plus Icon

The Movember SpeakEasy workshop can be held with numbers ranging between 30 to– 130 people. The workshop has been designed to ensure that the impacts of the workshop are the same within this attendance range.
